Abode Hotel – Originally built in 1829 by James Campbell the building was re-designed in 1911 as the headquarters for the Corporation of Education; the unique cage lift and elegant stone staircase were added alongside stained-glass windows, tiles and golden ‘lion rampant’ etchings on the walls. The building was category B listed in 1970 by Historic Scotland and became part of ABode Hotels in 2005. This illustration was used initially for stationery and advertising purposes when the building re opened as a hotel known at the time as The Arthouse Hotel. The reproduction print is from a watercolour enhanced with Photoshop.
