“The Apollo” Felt like it was open for decades but it was only 12 years! Tbf it was Green’s Playhouse before that from 1920. That’s why it had a ridiculously high stage at 12ft. It housed the cinema screen when they used it for live performances. Apparently it also helped everyone in the venue have a clear view of the stage. Not sure how happy I would have been in the front row of the stalls mind! First gig – Johnny Cash. Last gig – The Style Council. Both class.
