“A distillery a day” #154 Laggan Bay (Islay)
The 11th to open on the Island in recent years. It sits just off the main road between Port Ellen and Bowmore and tucked in behind the airport. Handy.
The 2nd distillery by Ian Macleod Distillers Ltd in as many years! I used to think Ian was a guy. Like a guy now. The name goes back to the 1930s when the man from Skye founded a whisky brockerage and bottling firm. The company was purchased by the Russell family in the 60s but kept the name. Nice touch.
They only bought Glengoyne in 2003 and then Tamdhu, reimagined Rosebank in 2024 and now this! All their other whiskies are a winner for me so no reason to have doubts over this one.
