A reasonably accurate map of Glasgow Record Shops
Date: 23rd December 2022
Commissioned by Glasgow Museums and in permanent display at The Riverside Museum, Glasgow.
It was great to finally hand over the original artwork and roughs for the “Reasonably Accurate Map Of Glasgow Record Shops” to Neil Johnson-Symington (Curator at Glasgow Museums). It was started and finished in the first 6 months of lockdown which afforded us a bit of padding time to get it right! So far no one has called us out for any inaccuracies. I’d hope not either after months of research by the museum’s team and endless hours on the phone deciding what should and shouldn’t be included. It dawned on me that Neil or infact anyone had seen these up until now so there were many discussions on the process and my personal scribblings dotted throughout the map. These will now be logged and form part of the Glasgow Museums private collection. The exhibition piece is on permanent display in the mock-up record shop at the Riverside Museum beside the big train!
